Mentor:

1) In the Odyssey, a loyal advisor to Odysseus entrusted with the care and education of Odysseus' son, Telemachus.
2) A wise and trusted counselor Mentoring at emmanuel is an important part of building our community.

The Emmanuel Mentoring Program consists of:

1) Pairing youth ages 12 through high school with an adult in the church to provide "wise and trusted" counseling, friendship, and a sounding board with an adult outside their immediate family.
The youth choose who they would like to have as mentors, and we ask that they try to get together at least once a month.
We provide the book "One on One" as a resource guide for activities and topics to talk about.
We encourage a long term relationship, since we feel this provides continuity for the youth.
2) Someone to help you deal with the Cyclops and Sirens that you meet.
